Baby sister

My darling baby sister emailed me just recently with some photos of her. I'd asked her for photos mainly because she's living in England now and I really wanted to see all the beautiful places that she had been to e.g. Stonehenge. Instead I get this:

I did also get this picture of her working over there:

Thank you

Thank you.

These are a few of my favourite things....

Thought I'd post a fluff post about some cute stuff that I've found recently.

This is a really cute blog with some original cartoons.

This is a very inspiring crafty blog and awesome etsy shop.

My MIL has recently branched out into ebay to sell her awesome stuff - check it out.

Very cute blog that is also offering free crochet lessons.

Elsie Flannigan has moved to typepad - I'm so in awe of her photography skills.

I'm loving the SSK podcast and Lime and Violet.

I'm yet to find a good podcast about scrapbooking - there are a few 'how to' type things but I'm after more general conversation.

I've just downloaded Skype so I'll get that up and running today and see if I can find people on it that I know from podcasts and whatnot.

I've been crafting away and various yarn and sewing projects. I'll post some photos up later today.

Yarn goodness

Here are some yarny things:

My latest buy: 6 balls of lovely varigated cotton and some nobbly cotton and polyamide (not sure what that is - that's just what the tag reads!).

This is my first knitted scarf in progress. I'm combining the nobbly cotton and some nobbly (is that even the right word??) wool/acrylic together to make it a nice thick fabric.

And this, my friends, is Nathan's knitting!! I love my husband! I'm so proud of his knitting! It's heaps neater than mine. He's making a horse from the 'Knit a square make a toy' book we borrowed from a friend.

Finally, I got this jumper from our internal op shop at college (love that place) but it's huge. It's 100% cotton so I'm unravelling it and plan to make the Cupcake top from the SnB HappyHooker book. I might dye it yet because I'm not a big fan of pink (Pink the singer - yes!).

Recon' shirt = heart pillow

I've been inspired by Craftster and Anna Maria Horner and spured on by boredom and a lack of a husband I made this tonight.

On the back it has a pocket for love letters. Sappy hey?!

Originally it was this shirt I got at the college op shop for 20c. It has a matching skirt that I can use for something yet. Lovely silky type fabric with a paisley print with it.

Prada shoes

This isn't craft related but I was camera happy the other day. These are my 20c Prada shoes. I bought them at our internal op shop at College. They actually used to belong a good friend of mine but didn't know she was trying to give them away.

I doubt I'll ever own another pair of Prada shoes let alone a pair that cost 20c!

Hubby away :(

Hubby's been up in Brisbane since Thursday and won't be home till Tuesday and I've been a right royal miserable mess. I miss him so much. :( I'm a little disgusted with myself that I'm so 'clingy' but I don't think I'm being terribly unreasonable.

I've been trying to keep myself busy but I still ring him up very miserable and demand that he comes home right now. Of course he can't and then he gets sad that he's making me sad. :(

Anyways, I'm planning on sewing and knitting a bit tonight so that I can post a lot of pretty things on my blog. I'm going to try and be a busy little monkey and not a sad one.

First Knitted Shawl

I made this up for my new sister-in-law's birthday a few weeks ago. It was my very first knitted wearable and I'm quite proud of it! I haven't heard from my sister-in-law yet so not sure if she likes it or not.  I was quite clear in the card that since we are sisters now she had to be completely honest with me. I'm not into fake appreciation of gifts especially amongst family members.

It's made from some beautiful Paton's mohair and it's just a plain garter stitch on 12mm needles. Since the needles were long enough it got bunched up a lot at the top (I started from the bottom) so the stitches got tighter as well but I couldn't tell since it was all bunched up. I reckon it looks pretty good!!
