Flickr Faves

I've been thinking a lot about what makes a blog nice to read and what makes it interesting enough to come back to over and over again. I think I've come up with a shortlist of what's needed:

1. Regular posts
2. Photos
3. Interesting excerpts from daily life
4. Short, bite-sized, sections of text
5. Tutorials (for craft blogs)
6. Nice links to other interesting sites.

I'd like my blog to be interesting and come-back-able. But my biggest hangup is writing about personal life as I still find that a bit difficult to do on the internet. We'll see. I'd like to show people who I am and what I do and in the process inspire people to be more crafty and creative.

Anyways, here are my current favourite photos from Flickr.

1. teeny tiny!, 2. Untitled, 3. Swallow Necklace, 4. Survivor., 5. little yellow teapot, 6. edge, 7. Pink Heart Necklace, 8. Bright and Cheery...., 9. IMG_2466, 10. Red Doves Necklace, 11. Japanese cherry blossom Pincushion, 25. Untitled, 26. love is colorful., 27. Nature Dance, 28. fit for a gnome, 29. This is actually her HAPPY FACE, 30. Stuffies and a matching purse!

I've been trying out a few free tutorials I've collected on the web and also trying to use up some of my fabric stash. I don't really buy a lot of fabric at full price. I try to get a lot from op shops, Grapevine (op shop at college) or markets and such. Or when Spotlight has a huge sale, like NOW! :)

I made up two of these kittens from Amy Butler. Nathan says they don't look much like kittens. I tend to agree. They do look like animals at least.

Then I had a go at a tutorial from Craftster.org that I've had saved for such a long time. So long that the poster had deleted all her photos and I was left with only written instructions. Ah well - I figured it out! :)

Moo Cards Swap

I've joined in on a swap over on BlueBazaar and am a little too excited to wait till mail out day to show what I've made.

The first time I heard about Moo Cards was over on Flickr. But it seems they are also in the scrapbooking world sort of like an ATC (Artist Trading Card). The Moo cards are only 2.8cmx7cm big. They are like little mini works of art.

Mine are digital since I find that the easiest to do collage with. I just love mucking around with my little PSE2 program! :)

I've got to make 8 of these but they only really took about 15minutes each so I could make heaps and heaps so easily! Love them!

Who wears fingerless gloves?

I've been working on these for a looooong time. I've completely finished one and need to seam up the other one. One is significantly larger than the other which is a little disturbing but all the lacework discourages me from fixing it up.

Now I know two people in the whole entire world who would wear these - my mother-in-law and Karen. That's it. Is there anyone else out there???!!!

I also made this up the other night from an old pair of Nathan's jeans. It's for my new Greek New Testament. It's an awesome Bible because it has all the words that appear 30 times or less down the bottom of each page with their meaning. This is great because by second year at Bible college you are supposed to know all the words that appear 30 times or more in the New Testament. So rather than hunt through my lexicon/dictionary all the less frequently appearing words are at the bottom of the page! It's odd the things that excite academics, isn't it! :)

The Bible has got this nice leather cover but I tend to scratch leather rather easily hence the cover. I think next time I make one I'll make it with some heavy felt so that I don't have to hem it.

Best Band Ever!

I made this for a friend on her birthday last weekend. It was very simple to make but my fabric was really thin and slippery to work with. Next time I'm going to go with a heavier cotton.

I found it at Foofanagle.
