Merry Christmas

I'm off for my holidays up to Bundaberg, Queensland. It's dad's turn for Christmas this year. It will be incredibly hot up there but dad's got chickens at the moment so that will be a nice distraction!

I won't be able to do much craft up there at all except for a new pair of socks I'm working on. I gave up on the Monkey socks for now until I get some better yarn that doesn't split and break so easily.

So Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you have a lovely holiday and remember that Jesus was born to save us from our sins.

Gifts are finished!!!

I've finished all the hand made gifts I'm going to make this year.

This is a part mohair scarf for a friend going to China for Christmas (I couldn't figure out how to take a photo of myself wearing a scarf).

Moda Vera Sentiments yarn from Spotlight
6mm needles (I think).
It's a simple drop stitch pattern every three rows.

This is a dragon for my SIL's best friend. It's made from various acrylic and cotton. The pattern is from Crochetville.

(huge sigh of relief). Making things for Christmas gifts is exhausting. It's also nerve-racking thinking about whether or not people will like them. The amount of time and effort that goes into Christmas gifts is just incredible and people who don't do handcrafts don't understand that. I'm always afraid of being seen as a cheap person so I don't really make many handmade gifts. I really, really hate those comments about people offering to buy me garments when they see me making them. Anyway, no need to be so cynical! It's Christmas!

Photoshoot (with the hottest thing around)

Ha! Had to put that in the title. Since my friend put all these photos into her Facebook account she's been getting wicked comments like the one in the title.

Beanie Beanie Beanie Baby

A Christmas present for someone very loved.

Project details:
Hot Head
Stitch N Bitch: A Knitter's Handbook
6mm needles
Moda Vera Dazzle (2 balls)

I've found my tiny backyard awesome for photos - great natural light and very lovely, soft grass. It is a bit wet at the moment due to all the rain!

New Knitty is Up!

Yay! My blog is back to behaving itself. Better yet, we've got fast internet back on at home. I must stick to my 2 GB allowance for the month! :)

So the new Knitty is up. Lots of pretty patterns that are all far too difficult for me at the moment. But here are two that I want to do.

Lime and Violet have been my constant companion over these first few weeks of the holidays. They are the best to listen to.

I borrowed Stitch N Bitch: The Knitter's Handbook, and Easy Baby Knits from Parramatta Library and love them both. I think I'm turning into someone who really loves to look at patterns but not necessarily make garments from the patterns. Maybe it's just the whole thing of looking at pretty things.

Something is going crazy-wrong with my blog header and some pictures. I have limited internet access at the moment (fast internet from 3am to 6am) and don't have the time today to fix it (off to teach English today).

I'll get up early tomorrow and fix this. Argghh! I hate it when pictures etc aren't working.
